What does the work consist of?
The Safety Officer assists the rig management in ensuring that the health, safety and environmental (HSE) work on the unit complies with the applicable HSE rules and regulations.
He/she heads campaigns, initiatives, audits, inspections and investigations concerning work safety, with particular emphasis on rules and regulations concerning emergency preparedness.

What do I need to know to hold the position?

  The Safety Officer must have knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, including Flag State and Coast State laws, regulations, procedures and agreements that govern the company’s drilling operations and he/she must be conversant with quality, safety and environment management principles.

How do I get there?

The Safety Officer position is ideally held by a person with minimum 2 years experience in previous Safety Officer positions combined with minimum 4 years offshore experience.
