What does the work consist of?
The Assistant Crane Operator is responsible for the operation and daily maintenance of the cranes and the safety hereunder.
Furthermore, the Assistant Crane Operator assists the Roustabouts in their work, including helicopter operations.

What do I need to know to hold the position?

In order to hold this position, you must have the following:

  Offshore Crane Operator’s Certificate

How do I get there?

You have started as a Roustabout, gradually developing your competences from that position, or you have previous experience with floating cranes from other industries.


Crane Operator

What does the work consist of?
The Crane Operator is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the cranes, and in addition to this, manages the Roustabouts.
He /she supervises that all activities are carried out in accordance with the Barge Engineer or Assistant Barge Engineer’s instructions, and delivers essential on the job crew training within lifting and slinging.

Furthermore, the Crane Operator functions as the Helicopter Landing Officer in connection with helicopter operations.

What do I need to know to hold the position?

In order to hold this position, you must have the following:

  Offshore Crane Operator’s Certificate

  Helicopter Landing Officer, HLO, certificate

  CAA Radio Operator Certificate

How do I get there?

You typically develop from a position as Assistant Crane Operator, and you have several years experience from offshore.
